Tria Home Laser System: what is it?

To date, the TRIA laser system is the only FDA-cleared home laser hair removal system that guarantees the same permanent results people get from in-clinic treatments. The Tria laser may be used to remove hair from legs, the bikini line, feet, arms, hands, chest, and back. The system, however, is not intended for a one-time treatment only but requires a series of treatments at home to get the best results.

The Tria laser uses the intrinsic heat in light beams to permanently neutralize hair follicles. There are five settings you can choose from, with the highest setting producing the most heat and generally giving the best results.

There’s a limitation though: only women or men with light skin can effectively use the Tria laser system. This is because the system needs to precisely distinguish hair strands and follicles from the skin. People with darker skin tones may experience blisters and burns if they proceed regardless of the test results from a skin sensor that comes with the package.

The system may cause pain or discomfort when first used, but these sensations will subside as usage continues (the system recommends a total of six to eight treatments at two to four week intervals). There’s also the different pain thresholds among people wherein one might feel just a slight discomfort, another may experience barely bearable pain when both use the same system setting. As a rule of thumb, the highest setting generates the most intense heat, and therefore is likely to cause the most pain.

Anyway, for most women, the discomfort is a small price to pay if the result is noticeable beauty enhancement through permanent reduction of unwanted hair.  Women should also appreciate the FDA clearance accorded to the Tria laser system which guarantees the product’s safety. In addition, feedback from previous users reveals that around 70% of unwanted hair was effectively removed by the third treatment.
